Here's Where You Can Stream Or Rent Every Scream Movie

(Welcome to Where to Watch, which provides a clear and simple answer to the question, "Hey, where can I watch this thing?" In this edition: every Friday the 13th movie, yes, even the one where Jason goes to space.)

Ghostface has been dormant for a decade, but that isn't going to be the case for much longer. A brand new "Scream" movie (which should probably be titled "Scream 5" but is instead just titled "Scream") is on the way in January 2022. With that being the case, now is the perfect time to get reacquainted with Wes Craven's classic slasher franchise. We're here to make that easy for you -- we're going to let you know where you can stream every movie in the series. And if it's not streaming somewhere, we'll let you know where to rent it.

This 1996 slasher flick started the "Scream" franchise, but more than that, Wes Craven's return to horror completely reignited the slasher subgenre at a time when it was more or less dead. In going meta, Craven managed to give cinema one of his greatest gifts, and one of horror's most enduring slasher figures. Not to mention one of the greatest final girls of all time in Neve Campbell's Sidney Prescott.

Those who still enjoy physical media who might be looking to add to their collection might also want to consider the recent 4K Ultra HD release.

Scream 2

As is always the case with many films -- but especially horror -- a successful movie warrants a sequel. Such was the case with "Scream," which was one of the highest-grossing slasher flicks ever in its day. As such, "Scream 2" quickly followed in 1997, with Craven once again behind the camera and the core cast with him. This time, things get even more meta as a couple of college kids are murdered at a sneak preview of the movie "Stab," which is based on the events from the first film. It's a movie within a movie, and a copycat killer is making things bloody.

Scream 3

After pumping out the first two entries in the franchise in rapid succession, Craven and the gang took a little break. But Ghostface would return once again in February of 2000 in "Scream 3" to help usher in a new millennium of horror in a post-Y2K world. People tend to be a bit hard on this particular entry, which sees the production of "Stab 3" being rocked by a killer who decides to murder the cast in the same order as the screenplay. It's up to Sidney, who had been in hiding, to solve the riddle, which ultimately turns into a twisted family affair. Perhaps now is a good time to re-evaluate this entry ahead of the fifth film.

Scream 4

Where to Stream or Rent: Stream on Tubi, or Rent from Amazon, YouTube, Google Play, Vudu, and Apple.

Wes Craven took a heck of a break following "Scream 3," but you can't keep a money-making killer down forever. As such, the filmmaker returned for what would ultimately prove to be his final directorial effort in April of 2011 with "Scream 4." This one sees Sidney Prescott returning to Woodsboro after writing a self-help book where she reconnects with her old friends Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) and Dewey Riley (David Arquette). Unfortunately for her (and to the bloody delight of audiences), her arrival heralds the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney and her loved ones in danger. This one was received well upon its initial release, and time has been kind to it in the eyes of many horror fans. Since it was the most recent entry in the series, it would do fans well to give this one a rewatch before the new "Scream" debuts.
