The Best Movies And Shows Coming To Paramount+ In September 2021

Have you signed up for Paramount+ yet? If not, perhaps I can interest you in a list of titles that are coming to the streaming service this month. And if that doesn't do it for you then, uh, I guess we have nothing more to talk about, friend! But those of you sticking around should keep on reading to see the best movies and shows coming to Paramount+ in September 2021.

Cop Land

James Mangold helmed this fantastic modern-day Western, featuring a career-best performance from Sylvester Stallone, who seems to be playing the living embodiment of a Bruce Springsteen song character here. Stallone is the sheriff of a small New Jersey town populated by cops -- all of whom are corrupt as hell. Stallone has spent his life looking the other way, but an incident inspires him to finally take a stand. This is a damn good movie and it features a scene where Robert De Niro eats a sandwich.

Nixon

You might not expect Oliver Stone to have sympathy for Richard Nixon, but in his film "Nixon," he does just that. That's not to say Stone forgives the corrupt politician's actions, but he does try to get to the heart of what made Nixon tick. Anthony Hopkins may not look like Nixon, but his performance envokes the flawed character of the man perfectly. This is probably Stone's last genuinely good movie.

Grosse Pointe Blank

John Cusack is a hitman who decides to go to his high school reunion. Silly premise? Sure, but "Grosse Point Blank" makes it work. It's funny, violent, and has a pretty good soundtrack. And Cusack is surprisingly effective as a cold-blooded killer who decides to turn his life around before it's too late.

Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid

The ultimate buddy movie. Paul Newman and Robert Redford are train robbers on the run from a posse. But you'd never really know it, because "Butch Cassiday and the Sundance Kid" is more of a hang-out movie, with Butch and Sundance taking it easy and drifting on by. Until the big shootout at the end, that is.

Jacob's Ladder

Adrian Lyne's genuinely scary film has Tim Robbins as a Vietnam War vet suddenly suffering from horrifying visions. Is he going crazy, or are there demons stalking around the dirty streets of New York City? You probably know the twist by now, but even if you do, "Jacob's Ladder" remains highly effective.
